Armed with a Canon R6 digital camera, he relies on two lenses – the Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art lens and the vintage Soviet “glass” Mir-20M (3.5). Accompanied by two photo lights and an RGB panel, these tools form the foundation of his artistic expression, enabling him to paint vivid stories through his imagery.

For the past six months, Metelev has found himself residing on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, where the urban landscape transitions into untouched fields awaiting development. This proximity to the open expanse of nature has sparked a flood of childhood memories. Having spent his early years in a small military town nestled in the steppe of the Saratov region, Metelev recalls the joy of tulip-picking for mothers, chasing lizards, and embarking on long, meandering conversations that stretched for kilometers from home.
