Egor Ostrov is an artist whose works are difficult to classify. His creative method
is peculiar and unique, requiring not just acquaintance with the famous monuments
of world painting and sculpture, but also a deep insight into the structure and inner rhythm of each work.
To do this, one must have the ability to delve into the very essence of the image,
to develop and emphasize exactly those qualities that make it a masterpiece, whether
it is the tactility of Michelangelo, the spiritualism of El Greco, the baroque expression of Bernini or the elegance of Ingres.

Born in 1970, Ostrov is a third-generation artist. His grandmother, Lia Alexandrovna Ostrova, a famous academic artist, was the first to teach him how to work with canvas and oil. Since he was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, where he was surrounded by beauty, beauty became the main principle of his artistic activity. After graduating from the Leningrad Electrotechnical University, he went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts. It was there that he met the artist and teacher Timur Novikov, joining his New Academy of Fine Arts in the early 90s. Being trained as a classical artist, and then experimenting with various techniques, including graphics, photography, and gum arabic, Ostrov found his own unique style that combined everything that defined his vision of the world and art.

“Art has the incredible power to move us, inspire us, and transform us in ways that few other things can. Whether it’s a stunning painting, a mesmerizing piece of music, or a captivating performance, art can touch us at the deepest level of our being and leave us forever changed.”

Ostrov is famous for his raster technique, which he used for the first time in 1992. His technique involves transforming one form into another, turning three dimensions into two, such as when he photographs sun-drenched sculptures in the Hermitage or the Louvre and turns them into paintings. He prefers to use acrylic car sprays, hoping that they will last for thousands of years. Despite being a classical artist, Ostrov’s style is modern and unique. His works can be found in numerous exhibitions held in many museums and galleries around the world..

His unique style is characterized by the use of classical tools such as canvas, oil, and acrylic, in combination with modern technological advances. He creates paintings that are a testament to the belief that art can be used to preserve the beauty of the world. Ostrov’s work is a reflection of his belief that beauty and harmony should be preserved in art.

“Let us open our hearts and minds to the endless possibilities that art offers us, and let us embrace the transformative power of creativity in all its forms.”

The art world is filled with a diverse range of artists, each with their own unique style and creative approach. However, there are few artists whose works are as difficult to classify as those of Egor Ostrov. His creative method is peculiar and unique, requiring not just an acquaintance with the famous monuments of world painting and sculpture, but also a deep insight into the structure and inner rhythm of each work. To fully appreciate his art, it is necessary to have the ability to delve into the very essence of the image and develop and emphasize exactly those qualities that make it a masterpiece, whether it is the tactility of Michelangelo, the spiritualism of El Greco, the baroque expression of Bernini, or the elegance of Ingres.

Egor Ostrov believes in what he considers his mission – the preservation of beauty in art and the harmony of the world. He often calls himself an “engraver,” meaning that he transforms one form into another, turning three dimensions into two. For example, he photographs sun-drenched sculptures in the Hermitage or the Louvre and transforms them into paintings. He prefers to use acrylic car sprays instead of prints, hoping that they will last for thousands of years.

One of the most striking features of Ostrov’s art is his ability to transform one form into another, creating a unique fusion of classical and modern techniques. His works showcase an intricate blend of traditional and contemporary elements, creating a captivating visual experience for the viewer.
