Tucked away on the rocky slopes of the Palo Huerfano volcano lies Casa Eterea, a stunning 75-square-meter dwelling that’s perfect for two. The house is a masterclass in environmental friendliness, with solar energy, rainwater collection, and clever UV mirror coatings that reduce its impact on the stunning landscape it inhabits.
But it’s the house’s design that truly sets it apart. Inspired by the concept of “emotional architecture,” which merges art and architecture to create spaces that stir the soul, Casa Eterea is a live installation that uses mirrored panels to blur the lines between the wild and the manmade. The result is a house that effortlessly blends into its surroundings, inspiring a deep sense of awe and respect for nature in anyone who stays there.
“Casa Eterea house offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.”
Step inside Casa Etérea and be greeted by a beautiful and cozy space designed without partitions, transforming the entire house into one large room. The central living room and bedroom feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that offer breathtaking views of towering cliffs. These doors seamlessly connect to an indoor patio and a solar-heated swimming pool, surrounded by olive and pomegranate trees. The house also boasts an open glass shower cabin with a view of a stunning ravine and a well-equipped kitchen for preparing light meals. For safety and privacy, remote-controlled PVC exterior blinds have been added. With its magnificent 8000 sq.m plot, Casa Etérea provides ample outdoor spaces for guests to relax and unwind.
Casa Etérea was conceived with the vision of creating a “theater of nature” where guests can marvel at the majestic mountains that surround them. To achieve complete integration with the environment, environmental friendliness was a crucial aspect of the design. The house runs on solar energy, collects rainwater, and features a patterned UV coating on the mirror, making it visible to birds while remaining reflective to the human eye. This harmonious blend of sustainability and aesthetics sets Casa Etérea apart as a true testament to the power of architecture in preserving our ecosystems.
“Casa Etérea Hotel is a sanctuary where architecture and nature intertwine, offering guests a unique and unforgettable experience.”
Inspired by the concept of “emotional architecture” coined by Mexican architect Luis Barragan and sculptor-artist Mathias Geritz, Casa Etérea is a live installation that blurs the boundaries between the wild and the structured. Mirrored panels strategically placed throughout the house distort the perception of where the observer begins and the landscape ends. This intentional distortion aims to evoke a deep sense of awe and unity with wildlife, while also prompting us to reflect on our role as keepers of the environment.
Casa Eterea Hotel stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of unique design and environmental stewardship. From its seamless integration with nature to its commitment to sustainable practices, this hotel offers a transformative experience for discerning travelers. As you immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings and explore the cultural wonders of San Miguel de Allende, Casa Eterea Hotel invites you to embrace the journey of finding tranquility, inspiration, and a deep connection with nature.
